Weather you are ready or not it's going to happen, that life thing.
What has happened in these parts since June 25th?
Went to Amarillo and saw:
- Antique shops
- Spudnuts
- Cadillac Ranch
- Palo Duro Canyon
- Big Texan Steak House
- Storms in the Texas Panhandle
You can certainly take a few days just to visit all of the antique shops downtown on old Rte. 66. Spudnuts is not far from where the antique shops are, stop in and give them a hollah for me, k. The Cadillac Ranch has a steady stream of tourists walking to and from it. You would see economy cars parked behind big RVs and people getting in and out of all of them. It was obvious that these people were traveling on summer vacation. Kids reluctantly waking from their nap in their car stumble out with grumpus looks on their faces. I can see how most kids would not see the fun in the Caddilac Ranch. It is kind of odd after all. Word to the wise, take yourself some spray paint and be sure to get there during the day, there are no lights out there at all.

People watch while out there too because if you pay attention you can figure out who's idea this little vacation excursion WAS NOT. I watched a Dad wander aimlessly with his hands on his hips. He chose to view the Prairie view instead of the spray painted Caddie's buried on end half way into the ground.
Palo Duro Canyon is....well a big canyonous hole in the ground. The husband says it is second next to the Grand Canyon. If that's wrong email me and I'll give you his cell number so you two can banter the facts. K.
The Big Texan was awesome eating, baby! I had planned to eat what I wanted, drink what I wanted and to take it all in with the Lawn Boy. The place was packed when we went in and put our names on the wait list. That's when we had the chance to wander and found The Big Chair for a photo op. Made the mistake of saying "I will if you will" and with that the Lawn Boy hopped up into the chair. Yes, I held to my end of the bargain and had my picture taken in the chair as well. Hunt for them over in my Flickr account.
We headed home back across the Texas Panhandle and were fortunate to go through a storm or two along the way. Anybody who comes here regularly knows that I am a storm lover so that last statement shouldn't sound odd to you. Lawn Boy and I were switching drivers when I decided to take a couple of pictures. They aren't the greatest but they show how dark the skies were and the landscape of the panhandle...which I love.
There have been other things that have happened since that trip and I'll update you, but right now I have to quit playing so that we can go to Lowes and also stop and deposit money into the boy's account.
Later Taters.
